Company Culture

We really need your help with this one.

Here at Urbintra, Company Culture is everything. Do you think that we should have a dress code? Before I tell you what I think, I would love to hear from you on this one. Please post your comments below and let’s release the cracking!

One Response to “Company Culture”

  1. Chris Weakland says:

    Dress codes serve a purpose — they are a visual representation of the company’s values and purpose. For example, I worked for a bank that primarily tarfgeted the “professional” market: accountants, lawyers, doctors, real estate professionals. Our dress code required men to wear suits and encouraged women to wear dresses/suits with occasional pant suits. We wanted our culture to reflect back to our business customers their own work environments — sophisticated, professional, conservative and, most importantly, a culture that knew how to “play by the rules — right and wrong — control, etc.” It served the bank’s purpose well and set it apart in a highly competitive industry. And it attracted a workforce that shared those same values. In contrast, consider the message Google conveys with it’s totally “casual” dress standard COUPLED WITH it’s highly playful and creative workplace enviornment. They don’t care what people wear to work; they welcome pets in the workplace; they encourage individual expression; they provide opportunities for creative expression 24×7 — games and interactive activities that stimulate all senses and keep the brain firing on all levels. Should Urbintra have a dress code? IAbsolutely! How it should be defined is another conversation…;
